THE DESIGN RENDEZ-VOUS

An essential rendezvous for design professionals and enthusiasts alike, the 62nd International Furniture Fair was held in Milan from April 16 to 21.

For six days, the design capital welcomed over 260,000 visitors from 209 countries, including architects, design school students, collectors, designers and the general public curious to discover the latest trends.

At the Rho Fiera Milano, they were able to discover various themes relating to the world of the home and exhibitions such as the Salone Satellite, dedicated to design start-ups, which brought together over 600 talents from all over the world, offering a fresh and innovative vision of tomorrow's design; the EuroCucina and FTK biennials, highlighting the latest trends in kitchens and household appliances; and the Salon International de la Salle de Bains, presenting innovative solutions for bathroom design.

Sustainability at the heart of the show

This year's show focused on innovation and sustainability. Exhibitors presented a multitude of products and solutions designed to meet current environmental challenges and improve users' daily lives.

Among the key trends at this year's show, the use of sustainable and recycled materials made a particularly strong impression:

  • The use of sustainable and recycled materials: many manufacturers presented furniture made from FSC-certified wood, recycled plastic and other eco-responsible materials.
  • A return to organic shapes and natural colors: Visitors could admire furniture with rounded lines and soothing colors, inviting relaxation and well-being.
  • The integration of new technologies: Numerous pieces of furniture and connected objects were on display, enabling lighting, temperature and other home functions to be controlled remotely.

This approach was also reflected in the design of the stands and exhibition scenography, with an emphasis on sustainable materials and energy-efficient lighting solutions.
The exhibition set designs, reworked by Milan-based architecture and engineering studio Lombardini22, were conceived with a view to creating a fluid, sustainable visitor experience.

In this way, the Salone del Mobile aims to be a vector for more virtuous practices, and to help steer the entire design sector towards a more responsible future.

At GL events Mobilier, sustainability is also at the heart of our projects, whether in our actions or in our catalog, with a selection of eco-responsible products such as the Terra range, Emma poufs or Confluence coffee tables... ISO 20121 certified, GL events Mobilier is committed to reducing the impact of its activity by implementing actions in line with its commitments.

See you in 2025

The next Salone del Mobile will take place from April 8 to 13, 2025. There's no doubt that it will be the occasion for new discoveries and even richer inspirations.
